I love Lao Tzu’s quote because the hardest step is often (usually?) the very first one. It’s not unusual to have conflict about getting help, so there may be comfort in knowing you don’t have to do all thousand miles at once, but merely to take the first tiny baby step, and that will set you in motion. With each subsequent step, the motion will become more familiar, and, like learning to use any muscle, easier with practice.

Where to begin?

“Begin at the beginning, the King said, very gravely, and go on till you come to the end: then stop.”

— Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland
